Dog crying, whining, chasing tail, and diarrhea. What should I do?

Your dog could have hip or back problems that make it painful to posture to defecate and would also make it hurt when her tail is manipulated. It could also be infected or inflamed anal glands. This condition is very painful and makes it difficult to defecate or even move. Without treatment, the gland may rupture, causing a open wound on your pet's rear that will require wound care and antibiotics as well as some pain relief. I recommend getting your pet seen by your vet. They will examine your pet, possibly do some x-rays and labwork and be able to give you a better idea of what is going on and how best to treat it.

If he is that uncomfortable, he needs an exam to help to pinpoint where the issue is and what the most likely causes may be. They could then also give him pain medications to help with comfort.

That is not an unusual sign and could be due to an inflammation/infection of the last part of the intestine (likely colitis). Anal glands could be inflamed and impacted as well. As these signs are often dietary related related, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hi, I am sorry to hear that Tyson is in pain. Has he eaten anything that he shouldn’t have ? I am thinking if he had any bones for example. These can sometimes breakdown in sharp fragments and even when they pass through the intestines, they can cause a lot of pain especially when in the rectum. The other thing the jumps in my mind is wether he could have troubles with his anal glands, these are located in the muscles around the anus and normally express themselves when dogs go to the toilet, releasing a scent . These little buggers can sometimes get impacted or infected and turn into little abscesses as well. Either way I think it is bets to take Tyson to see a vet and once he has some pain relief on board, he can be examined and helped accordingly.

Poor guy. Stomach upset is a possible cause; however, with such vague symptoms of being uncomfortable and decreased appetite, there are other potential internal issues. I notice that he is intact also, so a prostate issue could also cause a sudden pain response and decreased appetite as well. If he does not seem to be improving on his own within the next 1-2 days, then it is best to get him fully examined by your veterinarian for any other sources of his pain (prostate, joints, etc). Hi ! When he goes outside does he pass anything at all ? If he doesn’t I would recommend to have Oaty checked over. He is a young dog, he might have eaten something that caused an obstruction or partial obstruction in his tummy, or get hold of a bone that now is causing him pain when he tries to go to the toilet. I think a full clinical examination is needed together with a complete clinical history. We can then have a shorter list of differential diagnosis and the vet will be able to prescribe an adequate treatment. Hope this helps !
