My dog has a cracked and bent nail causing him pain. What should I do?

HELP!!My dog has very thick nails and one was very curved. Yesterday he was playing and landed on his nail to hard and it is cracked and bent. The base is poking out and there is no way to take the nail off. I put a wrap on his wrist and antibacterial spray, but the nail is so long that he can’t put it down or he’ll wince in pain. There is no way I can take him to the vet or clip them. What should I do?

Unfortunately I think that seeing a veterinarian is your only choice. It looks like Pinky probably needs to be sedated to remove the nail, and I’m not sure but it looks like the base could be infected. It might fall off eventually but it will be painful until then. If you have financial constraints you can look into Care Credit - www.carecredit.com

Good luck!
