My dog is sick after boarding: coughing, shivering, and tired.

I would not be worried just yet. Even though he was fully vaccinated he could still have acquired kennel cough (bordetella). That vaccine is not 100% effective. If they have been vaccinated against it and they do end up getting kennel cough usually the symptoms are less severe and the course of the disease is shorter so having the vaccine is worthwhile. Was he vaccinated for influenza (flu)? Again, not a 100% protective vaccine (just like out flu vaccine). This could be more serious if he caught the flu. Just monitor him for worsening signs - not eating, extreme lethargy, increased coughing, not drinking, ocular/nasal discharge, etc. If you notice any of those signs then I would take him to your vet for an exam. A little bit tired and mild coughing is not too worrisome at this stage. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

He could have gotten kennel cough while he was boarded, which is not unusual in situations where dogs are kept in fairly close quarters. I recommend getting your dog in to see your vet as he may need a prescription for cough suppressant and/or antibiotics to help him recover more quickly and easily.

It sounds as though Vito has been through quite a bit over the past week! It is concerning that he is now lethargic, not eating, and coughing, after being normal for a week after his procedures. My main concern is that he may have developed kennel cough or canine influenza after being in a shelter situation. To answer your question, yes, I do think you should take him to the vet for evaluation. In addition to a physical exam, Vito may need to have chest x-rays taken or blood testing performed. Dogs can get colds, however more serious issues such as infections, respiratory issues, allergies and even canine influenza can mimic cold symptoms in dogs as well. If Bentley's symptoms don't resolve after a day, his coughing continues or he seems in distress, he doesn't want to eat or drink, or he has a fever, seeking veterinary care ASAP to figure out the issue is best.

It sounds like poor Ghost has a lot going on. I would be concerned that he contracted an infectious disease of some sort while away. Because of his age I would be most concerned about intestinal parasites or parvovirus. I would recommend taking your puppy back to the vet to be examined since his symptoms are getting worse.
