Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old

Hello, i have been taking care of the dogs in my neighbourhood for a while. And there is this dog(female, native indian breed) who was once chirpy and happy mother of 2 month old pups who has now been coughing alot since a week, loosing her apetite, her hair, and doesnt look happy anymore. Im worried for her. And there is no vet in my city nearby.

Oh poor Emily! It's so lovely of you to look after the dogs in your neighborhood. There could be a couple of things wrong with her. The coughing and losing her appetite could be due to a respiratory disease, heart disease, or lung worms among other causes. Losing her hair could be due to fleas, allergies, mites, or ringworm. Without seeing her in person, it is illegal for me to suggest any medications to give her as I can't say if they are safe for her to have or are the correct medication for her symptoms. She needs to see a vet as soon as possible. I would see if there is an animal charity in your area that can help with Emily, or I would consider taking a road trip with Emily to your nearest vet.
