My dog is coughing. What are the possible causes and what should I do?

My dog has symptoms as cough, so how can I treat her and which medicine that I need to give her?

Coughing in dogs is mostly caused by an upper respiratory infection but there are other causes such as heart disease, heartworm disease, primary lung disease and allergic bronchitis. So he treatment depends on the underlying cause. And so nce there are no medicaitons that would be recommended to give your pet over the counter, it's best to have Money seen and evaluated by your local vet or see if the underlying cause can be found so that he appropriate treatment (medicaiton) is prescribed for her. Best case scenario is that she has a mild URI that responds to a short course of prescription antibiotics. Best wishes.

A cough has multiple causes. Infection, allergies, heart disease, foreign body are just a few. Legally, we are prohibited from recommending any medications in the absence of a physical exam and a patient-veterinarian-client-relationship. Have Money examined by your vet to diagnose the cause. Afterwards, the appropriate treatment or medication can be administered.

Unfortunately, there are no OTC medications you can give your dog for her cough. The cough will be related to her heart disease, and is likely caused by a build up of fluid in her lungs. There are medications you can get from your vet that can help with that help with called diuretics. An example of a diuretic would be furosimide. I would speak to your vet today about possibly putting her on a diuretic to help with her cough.
