My dog is constipated, vomiting, and crying. What should I do?

Constipation can be a very serious condition, it can be caused by a physical blockage (foreign body like a bone) or a functional peristalsis deficiency of the intestines. In order to treat simple constipation, you should increase the fibers in the food (e.g. canned pumpkin) and can add a little mineral oil to the diet. I strongly advise taking your dog to the vet in order to check if there is a serious condition causing the constipation first.

Hello, sorry to hear about Princess. At a month old, Princess can start to be weaned off mom and switched over to soft foods (wet down dry food or canned food). On those pictures and based on what you're describing, it sounds like Princess may be sick. Her unwillingness to move and crying may be associated with pain. This can be caused by a high number of worms or if she is having a viral disease (in a puppy with unknown history, biggest concern would be Parvovirus). I would recommend having your veterinarian evaluate Princess and test her for Parvovirus and worms. Otherwise, Princess could be continued to be fed both Formula (if she will drink it) and canned food for the next week or two while you completely wean her off the bottle and switch her to soft foods. Poor Molly! Vomiting for three days is very concerning. If she's constipated and hasn't been able to poop, it's possible that she may have an intestinal blockage. This sounds like quite a severe problem, so I would recommend taking her to the vet today to be seen. Your veterinarian can examine her and take some x-rays if needed to help determine why she can't poop, and will advise you on what kind of treatment is needed depending on what is found.

It sounds as Bandit is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

It looks like there may be some rectal swelling/possible prolapsing if your puppy is straining hard to go to the bathroom and can't. If he is unable to pass stool at all and the swelling is still there or growing in size, it would be best to seek veterinary care in person ASAP. If he is able to pass some stool and is a little constipated, some pureed pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) or plain yogurt can help, but if he is straining to the point of causing rectal swelling/protrusion or is retching like there is something stuck preventing him from going potty, veterinary care is needed.

It sounds like Princess is unwell. She could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I see that she is unspayed, and an infection of the uterus called a pyometra occurs in unspayed dogs and causes these symptoms. For now, I recommend monitoring her. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, and then feed her boiled white meat chicken and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. If she keeps that down, you can slowly add back in her normal diet. Monitor her closely for signs of a pyometra, such as more vomiting, her belly becoming swelling, extreme lethargy, and discharge from her vagina. You can also take her temperature to monitor for fever, which would be above 102.5F. If you see any of those signs I mentioned above, take her into a vet immediately. In addition, if the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomiting the bland diet, she develops diarrhea, she stops drinking water and start vomiting water, or she becomes very lethargic, take her into your vet right away.
