My dog is congested and sneezing. What home remedies can I try?

Poor Shorty! He may be congested. Try bringing him into the bathroom with you when you take a shower or putting him in a room with a humidifier. The steam from these may help with his congestion. Make sure he is eating, gently warming canned food if his appetite has gone down. I hope this helps!

Poor Dolly! You can try to hold her in a small bathroom while your run a hot shower and let her breathe in the steam. Obviously, don’t put her in the water. And picking her up allows her to get more steaks since steam rises. You can also try some Benadryl. See the link below for more information. If she isn’t improving or if she is lethargic or not eating then I would have your vet look at her. Your vet will be able to listen to her heart and lungs and help determine the cause. You could put a humidifier in the room with her and/or put her in the bathroom while you shower to moisturize her nasal passages and help her breath easier. She might also need an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory so you could have her examined by a vet to prescribe.

I would have him seen by your vet, who can prescribe medications to treat his symptoms. Do not use any decongestant products over the counter as these can have harmful toxic effects on animals. Avoid any essential oils and no vapor rubs as these can be irritants to the airway. Unfortunately, respiratory infections do typically require a visit to the vet for medications such as antibiotics, and I would recommend bringing her into one tomorrow. If he isn't eating and drinking well, you can also offer some low-sodium chicken or beef broth to encourage him to stay hydrated. A mild respiratory infection should resolve on its own within 7-14 days. If the problem goes on longer than this, or if he stops eating completely or becomes very lethargic, then there may not be any option except to take him to the vet since he may need prescription medication and supportive care such as IV fluids to help fight the infection.
