My German Shepherd has a circular sore with hair loss. What is it?

That looks like a deep infection and I recommend to have Lori examined by the veterinarian. Sometimes these infections are related to a bacteria or yeast infection. They can also be related to skin mites or an autoimmune condition. Generally deep infection require antibiotics. It’s very important to make sure you protect the area from any licking or scratching as this will make it worse. Hi there. Without a photo or examining Lottie myself it is very hard to say what is going on. I am sorry to hear about Tyson! A hot spot is definitely a possibility for a lesion like this. It is hard to tell in the photo, but if the lesion is raised from the skin we also worry about skin tumors/growths. You can try cleaning the area with mild soap Or hibiclens (available at drug stores) and applying a topical hydrocortisone but you will need to put an e-collar on Tyson to prevent him from licking the area. If it is a hot spot we often need a short course of steroids and antibiotics as well. If it is getting larger or he is really bothering at it, I would try to get him into your vet sooner.

Poor Raven! It sounds like she has a bacterial skin infection and ear infection, possibly secondary to allergies. If bathing her does not help, than she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. She may need an oral antibiotic, anti-histamine, corticosteroid, and ear medications to treat the problem. If needed, your vet can do a skin scrape, cytology, culture, or skin biopsy to help determine the exact cause. Hope she feels better soon!

Marshal needs to have this area shaved and scrubbed. Depending on what it looks like after would depend on if just antibiotics are needed and maybe a biopsy if the medications have not worked in the past. It is a little hard to tell based on these photos, and a closer look in person might make a difference, but this could definitely be a scar. If it is a scar, I'd hate to see what the original injury looked like! A veterinarian could take a closer look at the tissue, hair follicles, and how it feels, and make a better assessment on whether it appears to be a scar or diseased skin. Those spots on Dakota could be several things including allergies to fleas, allergies to something in the environment, food allergy or endocrine disease. Each one of these problems is detected and addressed differently and I recommend to discuss with your veterinarian which one to start hunting down first. Parasites are often ruled out with an oral medication like Simparica. Food allergy is best ruled out with a diet trial using a hydrolyzed protein. Endocrine diseases are detected with blood work. Environmental allergies are a little more difficult to detect but a response to therapy or a blood test can give an indication. Once you figure out and address the underlying cause, the lesions should not come back. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Also protect the area from trauma by having Dakota wear an elizabethan collar at all times.The bad odor also likely indicates either a bacterial infection or fungal infection.
