My dog chipped a tooth with a beige dot. Should I take her to vet?

It looks like this chip just involves the enamel and not the pulp. Some veterinarians might recommend a sealant while others would just monitor. If the chip seems to extend below the gum line x-rays might be recommended. I’d recommend having your vet examine the tooth in person.

If the pulp cavity is open, the root is exposed, which is very painful and increases the risk that the tooth will get infected. I would recommend taking Sky to your veterinarian to confirm if the pulp cavity is exposed and extract the tooth if it is.

I recommend making an appointment with your vet when they open to take a look at it. Though she isn’t acting painful, it may become painful or infected. There isn’t anything you can do at home and no safe medications you can give for pain. If it is broken, she will likely need to undergo anesthesia to have the tooth removed. Yes, I recommend making an appointment to have Roxy seen by a vet. The lesion may be painful, and could become infected if left untreated. Pain medications meant for humans can be very dangerous (and even deadly) for dogs, so I do not recommend giving any to your pup without consulting with your vet.

I would recommend seeking emergency veterinary care for at least pain control tonight if she is uncomfortable, lethargic, salivating a lot, whining or vomiting. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pharah. Yes, she will need to see her veterinarian. With the tooth broken in that manner, the root canal sounds exposed. This will be very painful for her. It will also allow an infection to develop within that tooth. She may need to have the tooth extracted. Most dogs do not shows signs of oral pain, so it may be difficult to tell based on her behavior at home. I suspect it is very painful though. I hope this information helps!

Hello. That tooth probably should come out, even though it is a puppy tooth, but you can wait until Friday as long as Luna does not seem uncomfortable. . Your veterinarian might just leave it be, but there is a small chance of infection that can get into the root & then the bone causing problems with the adult tooth.
