My dog chewed her leg callus and it bled. Is emergency vet needed?

Sometimes they can be closed, other times bandaging may be best. Ideally wounds should be addressed as quickly as possible to allow for optimal healing. Waiting another day may make closing the wound impossible if it's an option. Make sure that Moose cannot lick the wound, this may require an e-collar (lampshade cone of shame). If it is painful or continuing to bleed he should be seen tonight.

Judging from the picture you provided, the paws do not look that red and I see no visible wounds. I would say that it should be ok to leave the bandages off. If she is licking / chewing at the paws, I would recommend using the plastic cone around her head to prevent her from licking them and worsening the condition further. I hope this helps! Poor Tandy! If the bleeding has stopped, then an emergency visit isn't need. I would gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep her from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on her. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

I'd call your vet and set up an appointment when you are able to get her in. They can shave and clean the area and dispense antibiotics, topical medications and pain meds. Good luck!

Hello, I'd recommend taking Cali to her veterinarian. Limping is a sign of pain, as well as excessive chewing. They will likely want to x-ray her leg and look for signs of infection, a tumor, or another cause for her to be in pain. I hope this is helpful. While I think this needs to be checked out by a vet, I don't think this is an emergency. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning. That being said, if it really bothers him (licking at it constantly, limping, not putting weight on the leg), then it may be worth an ER visit. I hope this helps!

Poor Dahlia, it does look a bit raw. She may have been scratching herself causing this and that can be a sign of an ear infection. I don't think it's an emergency, but she should see a vet. Give her vet a call to see if you can get her in on Monday. You can gently clean that area with warm water and antiseptic soap. I would put a cone on her to keep her from scratching at it more.
