My dog has a cheek wound for 3 days and is scratching. Home treatment?

It sounds like she has a hotspot which could be secondary to allergies and/or an infection. The best thing would be to have your vet take a look at it to determine the best way to treat. She may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and or a corticosteroid to treat and your vet can prescribe. If you can't take her to a vet than you could clean the area with an antiseptic wound cleaner but if she keeps scratching the area than it will not heal. Covering the area probably will not work but you could get an E-collar to prevent her from scratching.

Yes, it looks just like some sort of wound from an injury. I would not be overly worried about it at this stage. The hair surrounding the wound will be to be shaved to reveal the extent of the problem. Depending on the findings, he may need a cleansing solution and oral antibiotics. Ouch, poor Chewie! This lesion looks most consistent with a hot spot (moist dermatitis). Given the location, I would also be concerned that he created the lesion from trying to scratch his ears from an ear infection. If you have clippers on hand, you can clip the hair around the skin lesion and then clean it with an antiseptic soap, such as chlorhexidine or betadine. Moonlight is such a handsome dog!! From your pictures I suspect that Moonlight has what is known as a hotspot, or moist dermatitis. You need to take him to your regular vet to have the area looked at to be sure. Your vet will likely want to shave the fur from the area and clean it thoroughly. Some hotspots respond well to topical treatment, others require systemic medications such as antibiotics and steroids. These areas of dermatitis/infection can get larger very very quickly, and can be very irritating and painful. They often are associated with some type of allergy, so your vet may need to discuss allergy testing/treatment/food trials with you as well.
