Can I give this supplement to my dog and cat while on other meds?

You are ok going forward with the supplements. Supplements don't have any interactions with medications that you get from your vet, which is why they are ok to sell over the counter. I do hope that Simba's prostate condition is manageable for awhile and that you can keep him comfortable. Consider getting an aspirate of the prostate if you want to know if it is cancerous or not. Yes they can have both at the same time. The "flea supplement" is not something I would recommend you give though. Fleas are extremely resistant and "natural" products are usually ineffective. They have no clinical trials or testing done on them and there is no ingredient in that product that makes sense to me as to how it would work to repel fleas. I think it is a waste of your money but it should not be harmful to give both products.

Yes, you can use supplements on a dog with DCM. However, most of the supplements have similar actions to the drugs that we use for heart disease, so you need to be sure that you are working with your vet or a vet trained in herbal medicine to make sure the dosage and effects are safe for Chico. I use Hawthorne berry to increase cardiac contraction, and I don't see that Chico is on a medication for that, so that might be a good addition. And I don't think there are any contraindications for Omega 3 fish oil which can improve blood supply to the heart muscle itself. Again, I would recommend speaking to your vet about those supplements and see if they have any other suggestions. I will often use Coenzyme Q10 in my heart patients as well. Other than the prednisone there is nothing in all the other supplements that you are giving that could harm him, even when given all together at the same time. the are these helping his condition? that is another question which i am afraid i cannot give you an answer to.

There should be no harmful interactions at all between tryptophan and chamomile, and the prescription medications that your dog is currently taking - so you could certainly try this if you like. I do recommend letting your vet know that you are giving the supplement, just so that he/she is in the loop about everything your dog is taking :)
