My dog is anxious in the car. What natural remedies can I try?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 2 years and 10 months old | 10 lbs

Can I use melatonin for my shipoo when we travel. She is very anxious in the car. My vet wants to put her on trazadone or Benadryl but I want to use something natural.

Melanonin does not have sedating properties, so it will not help with anxiety. There are a number of natural supplements that may help with travel anxiety. You might consider VetriScience Composure.

Be sure to try it before you travel to see how Bree does with it.
Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
