My dog's Caninsulin breaks when dropped. Is there a better way?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | 22 lbs

My dog has diabetes and gets caninsulin twice daily. I have ms and frequently drop things. I was advised that if I drop caninsulin it can break the suspension and can't be used. This is proving costly for example I opened a new bottle yesterday and dropped it loading the syringe. Is there another way? Kind regards Dee

Hi there. Sorry that you are having this issue. All insulins are very sensitive actually and not just the Caninsulin.

That being said, the Caninsulin actually comes in a preloaded pen that you can use instead of dosing from a bottle and filling the syringes yourself.

I recommend you talk to your vet about getting that instead. I think it would be easier for you.

I hope this helps. If you have more questions please feel free to post again! Best wishes!
