My dog has skin bumps, bloody stool, and toe growth. Is it cancer?

Poor Bruno! Given the severity of his signs and failure to respond to initial treatments i would recommend trying to arrange skin biopsies to be sent to a specialist veterinary dermatologist and sites at all stages and the normal skin edges around the lesions should be taken. A university or international specialist lab should be contacted to examine the samples, a full history of all previous tests and treatments should be included with the skin samples

Poor guy. The hard lump is hard to say what it is without a photo. It could be a condition called folliculitis or even a pustule (infected pocket). However, with bloody diarrhea, I would highly recommend taking Merlo in to your vet to get him examined and stool tested. Lots of things can cause loose bloody stool including: parvovirus infection, pancreatitis (usually causes vomiting as well and decreased appetite), stress colitis, etc. Once Merlo is examined, the vet will likely put him on a short course of antibiotics and probiotics at the very least for the loose stool. The hard lump will have to be examined first to determine what, if anything, needs to be done for this as well. I hope that your furry friend Merlo gets these issues resolved soon! This does not sound like a normal thing to happen in dogs, and I recommend that Binky see a vet for her skin issue. Your vet may do a skin scrape to look for mites, skin cytology to look for bacteria or yeast under a microscope, or bacterial or fungal cultures may be needed. Possible causes for bumps include fleas, mange, lice, infections (bacterial or yeast), ringworm, allergies, among others. I would recommend that Binky be on year-round flea prevention. While you await for your appointment, you can try a medicated shampoo like Dechra MalAcetic Ultra Shampoo, but be careful not to get it into her eyes. Also, think of any changes that have happened in the last few weeks, like changes in food, treats, medications, supplements, or household cleaners that could have had an effect on her skin.

Without further testing, there is no way to tell if this growth is due to infection, trauma or allergy, or if it is a tumour. Tumours can be of a malignant (cancerous) type that can spread elsewhere and/ or invade the healthy tissue around them, or a more benign (noncancerous) type that is unlikely to spread. I recommend making an appointment to see your vet to have the growth tested. In many cases this can be done using a fine needle aspirate, where cells are removed from the growth using a needle and examined under a microscope to determine what it is and to guide treatment. In some cases further testing may be needed to determine the necessary course of treatment, but it is important to get new growths tested in a timely manner, as some can be cancerous and quite aggressive in their growth, and growths due to infection, allergy or trauma can lead to complications or be indicators of underlying health problems. In the meantime, it is very important that you keep Trey from licking the area to help prevent infection by making sure he wears the “cone” (also known as an e-collar or Elizabethan collar) at all times when he is not being directly supervised by you, including while sleeping. Pain medications meant for humans can be very dangerous (and even deadly) for dogs, so I do not recommend giving any to your pup without consulting with your vet. Your veterinarian can prescribe safe medication to help with the pain as needed. Hope your pup feels better soon!

As for the bump, my biggest concern would be an enlarged lymph node and mammary cancer. The black stool, lethargy, and thirst are suggestive of bleeding in the intestines. Since she is not spayed, a pyometra would also be a possibility. You need to get her to a veterinarian as soon as possible for bloodwork and abdominal x-rays or ultrasound.

That is odd and it sounds like poor Duchess has a few problems happening at one. Skin bump are generally not related unless they are occurring because of something like getting into a hornets nest or some sort of allergic reaction. Certain types of tumors can spread to other parts of the body but it doesn't generally all happen on the same day. The mass on her rectum is concerning because it is larger and very red. I recommend to have Lola examined by her veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examined under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. Have this checked out soon. Additionally, ongoing diarrhea often results in bacterial shifts that will continue the diarrhea regardless of the initial cause. I recommend to have Duchess examined by the veterinarian within the next 24 hours. I hope this helps and best of luck.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching (if any). The other signs are quite concerning and could be caused by a possible gastrointestinal infection. A check up would be absolutely needed.
