How do vets document Pomsky or mixed breed dogs for apartment rules?
Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The method of documenting mixed breeds is different for all clinics - there isn't necessarily one universal way of documenting this in the medical record, and clinics are often limited to the settings in their record system database, so I recommend calling your vet and explaining the situation. Some record systems allow an animal to be entered as two specific breeds (pomeranian x husky) while other systems require you to choose the primary breed and list it as a mix ("pomeranian mix" or "husky mix"). Some systems allow a manual addition of a breed, which could allow the record to say "pomsky" but many don't work that way.
So - talk to your vet! Since your dog is a cross between two breeds, and the apartment staff said they'll respond differently if the dog is listed as a mixed breed, I would expect your vet can work with that.
Hope this helps!
