My dog's breathing changed after spay and weight gain. What to do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

Hello, not a question about my dog, but about my grandmas dog: she’s 6 years old and was neutered about a year ago. Ever since then she has gain a few pounds but I’ve heard that’s common. What I find weird is that she started to breath really weirdly. I cant really explain how it sounds, but it’s definitely not how she breathed before.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your grandmother's dog. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian if her breathing has changed. It may simply be a result of her weight gain. However, she could have a respiratory infection or even a heart problem. For this reason, it is best to have her seen and to work on weight loss with her. I hope this information helps!
