My dog's paw blister is bloody. Should I keep using salt water baths?

The most common growths that look like this are sebaceous adenomas or skin tags. You can soak the food in Epsom salts and apply a triple antibiotic ointment but the mass likely needs to be removed. Even though a picture would help to understand better the underlying cause, this presentation could be due to a trauma (presence of foreign bodies) or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). Allergic reactions can cause them as well in rare cases. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. If the problem is related to the presence of foreign bodies then a quick surgical procedure (sometimes even under local anesthetic) is needed to remove them. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. Hi there. I believe it is reasonable to try salt soaks for something like this before you take Harvey in. I would try trwjceba day for 15 minutes at a time and drying well afterwards. Do not allow him to lick the foot. If the blister continues or grows in size afterwards-its time for a trip to his doctor.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It looks as though something may have punctured the skin and caused an infection. This looks like it could be an abscess / isolated infection. For the epsom salt soak, I generally recommend ~1/2 cup of epsom salt added to 1 gallon of warm water. It is ok if he licks the foot after the soak as the epsom salt is not toxic. I would recommend using a plastic cone to prevent him from licking at the area. If he continues to lick the area, the wound will likely not resolve. If this does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Rocky so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Poor Gizmo! That looks really sore. The lesion in the picture could be an abscess, a very large interdigital cyst or a tumor. I would recommend that you have Gizmo seen by your veterinarian. They may recommend a fine needle aspirate of the lesion to get a better idea of what is causing the swelling. Surgery may be required to lance and drain the abscess or remove a mass if present.

Poor Hugo! Underlying causes of these types of cystic lesions can include allergies, foreign material lodged into tissue, and immune mediated conditions, all of which can become infected with bacteria and/or yeast. Hugo should be examined by his vet because he will likely need an antibiotic or antifungal medication either orally or as a topical foot soak.

This is an interdigital infected cyst. You can soak it in warm water with epsoms salt to help get the area to drain. Generally I treat these with antibiotics and prevent licking by using a restraint collar. With treatment this should heal in a week or two.
