Husky has a bloody wound on his neck. Is it a dog bite or ringworm?

Hello. Definitely not ringworm. Phoenix did obtain a small bite wound & when you pulled the scab off, you revealed the underlying wound. If you could clip the hair a little better around the area, it will be easier to treat. Clean twice daily with a skin antiseptic like Hibiclens ( available at all pharmacies ) & apply a triple antibiotic. If it just does not seem to be healing well, you will need to see your veterinarian for further treatment options including antibiotics. Hello and thank you for using Pet Coach. That area looks infected to me. That could be related to Loki licking and biting the area. Sometimes though there's a foreign object trapped under the skin like a grass seed or piece of wire. I recommend to have Loki examined in the next few days to have this addressed. In the meantime, there are some things you can do at home which may help. 1. Stop any licking (since this can make it worse) - Loki should wear an elizabethan collar at all times. - Remember that the collar must come out past his nose in order to be effective. 2. Next, wash the area once a day with either plain hand soap (like Dial) or a medicated pet shampoo. Rinse the area well and gently towel dry. -This will help to control the number of topical pathogens as well as remove oil and dead skin cells. 3. Lastly, apply a topical antibiotic twice a day to the red areas. Make sure the skin is dry before application. -Just a dab will do and rub it in well. Neosporin is fine to use. *wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards when handling this wound. 4. Restrict his activity. Since it's on the paw, it can be traumatized by activity. So for now, I recommend minimal to no walks, no running or jumping. Avoid walking on rough surfaces (like dried grass). If the wound gets dirty, you can wash it. I do not recommend to bandage paws. Poor Bholu! That looks like it could be a bite wound, a ruptured cyst, a ruptured tumor or perhaps the exit wound of a fly larva. Regardless I recommend to take him in to the veterinarians as soon as you can. Also make sure to protect the area from additional trauma by making him wear an Elizabethan collar at all times. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Onyx. Tonight try to prevent him from scratching the area any further. He will likely need to wear an E-collar. The can gently clean the wound with warm water and just let it air dry. He will need to see his veterinarian tomorrow as he may require an antibiotic depending on how deep the wound is. This presentation could be due to a trauma (bite wound) and/ or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be continued at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (twice daily). I would recommend to shave fur around the wound (clippers are best as if you do it with scissors you may injury him) to be able to clean the area best as possible. After cleaning you can dry it up and apply any cream containing zinc oxide (like sudocream). Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. This looks pretty badly infected, i would recommend stopping with the treatment you mentioned and take him to the vet in order to get it treated, he will likely need a course of antibiotics, hydrogen peroxide will make it worse.

Thank you for providing pictures of Zephyr's wound! It looks like there may be some scab formation already on the wound, so I would leave it be for now. My concern is that there are some areas on the wound that look a little red and I would have it checked out by a vet on Monday to be safe. The wound could be infected, and she would need antibiotics to treat it if it is. Keep her from licking at the wound by putting an Ecollar on her.
