My dog's paw is bleeding and in pain. Can I give him Tylenol?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 10 years and 4 months old | 70 lbs

My 10 year old chocolate lab was playing in a lake and stepped on something that stabbed his rear right foot and caused a lot of bleeding and now is in pain. I am curious if I can give him tylonal.

No. Tylenol can be very toxic to dogs. Choco needs to be seen by his veterinarian as he could get an infection from this wound as well as for dog-safe pain medication. Until he can be seen keep the wound clean, dry, prevent him from licking the area and restrict his activity in order to minimize bleeding.
