My dog has a bleeding lump on his paw pad. Should I see a vet?

Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet. Poor girl. Yes I would recommend taking her to the vet for this bleeding mass. Often times masses on young dogs are histiocytomas (benign tumors) and can spontaneously regress within 2-4 weeks. However getting this cleaned properly and a short course of anti-inflammatory medication, antibiotics and a temporary bandage are likely needed to help manage this wound in the meantime. There is a couple of types of skin growths in dogs that are basically tumors filed with blood. One is a hemangioma, and that type is benign (meaning it doesn't spread to the rest of the body); the other is a hemangiosarcoma, and these are malignant. There is no way to tell the difference between the two; the mass must be removed surgically and then tested with a biopsy. The other possibility is that your dog sustained some type of trauma to the foot that is causing the lesion and the bleeding.
