My dog is bleeding, lethargic, hasn't eaten for 2 days. What's wrong?

My male dog is bleeding from his pens, he is very lethargic, hasn't eaten in 2 days and I'm not sure what's wrong. Any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear that your dog is so unwell. From what you are describing it sounds possible that he could have ingested a toxin, have a urinary tract infection, an infection of the prepuce, or an issue with his kidneys. Because he is so lethargic and not eating I would suggest a trip to the veterinarian as soon as possible to a diagnosis and appropriate treatment. If you can collect a urine sample to bring in that would be helpful.

In the meantime you can try the following at home;

Keep up fluids with;
Pedialyte flavourless mixed with water 50/50
Low sodium chicken broth

Encourage eating;
Chicken boneless and cooked
Low fat ground beef cooked

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is concerning that Bobot has not been eating for the past 2 days, especially if he has been peeing blood. This could be due to a urinary tract infection, urinary tract stones, urinary tract tumor, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bobot evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least, he can be started on medications to make him feel better. Good luck! Why won't my dog eat, only drinks water, and is very lethargic?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Max! Max does sound sick. I can't fully understand your post but I think you are saying that Max is lethargic and isn't eating. That he is holding down water. Is he vomiting too? From your pictures his gums do look a little less pink then they should. If he is anemic (low red blood cells) then that can be serious. Causes could be blood loss from a tumor inside his belly, infectious causes like tick borne diseases, immune conditions or other types of cancer. There are many causes for lethargy and not eating: blockage, cancer, kidney or liver failure, viral diseases, etc. I would have him seen by your Vet for an exam. I wish you and Max the very best!

Why is my senior dog bleeding from penis, lethargic, and won't eat?

Bleeding from the penis can have various causes: Xander could be suffering from a UTI, an inflammation of the prostate, penis or prepuce or a tumor. Since he is not eating and lethargic it is likely something that causes him pain and he may have a fever. You can carefully push back his prepuce (foreskin) and then inspect his penis for injuries or growths, or to see where exactly he was bleeding from or is still bleeding from. If he is still bleeding you should take him to an emergency room this evening. If it stopped bleeding but he stays lethargic or will not eat his breakfast tomorrow morning or if you find injuries on the penis , then you should call your vet for an appointment.

Poor DuDu! Blood in urine (haematuria) is a symptom compatible with various diseases. It could be compatible with: lower urinary tract inflammation/infection, bladder neoplasia or polyps, bladder stones, renal diseases, vaginal diseases. Inappetence and lethargy are possibly secondary to the disease causing the blood in the urine. I suggest to collect a urine sample and bring DuDu to your local vet asap for a full physical examination. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I recommend that you take your dog to see a veterinarian. It sounds like he needs immediate care if he is not eating, he is lethargic and may have a fever. This sounds like a serious condition that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Your veterinarian will perform a full physical exam and determine what additional testing may need to be done (xrays, bloodwork) to give you a better idea of what treatments are needed. Good luck.
