It appears to be a small mass or skin tag. You can place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent further licking or chewing. This may be enough to allow healing. If not, have him examined by your veterinarian. If the spot has become infected, Ghost may need antibiotics. Anti-inflammatory medication may provide relief. A simple fine needle aspirate can also be done in the clinic to collect samples for pathology if indicated. This may provide a diagnosis.

Poor Fox, it looks like he has made himself very sore! He has likely caused a bit of lick dermatitis where the top layer of skin gets irritated then bacteria from.the saliva infect it. It does look pretty superficial, and the surgical site looks okay. I would try putting the collar back on, bathing the area in salty water twice daily, drying gently, then applying a topical antibacterial cream. If it appears to be getting worse or not improving head into the vet.

Skin issues like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), allergies, an infection, or an underlying medical issue (Cushings disease, diabetes). I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, have any necessary testing done (bloodwork, skin scrape, culture) and start on any treatment that he may need. Hello, sorry to hear about Marcelino. There are a couple of things you can try, but may or may not have a good outcome. Most of the time, dogs will bite and itch from allergies. You would need to have these treated to gain the best control on your dog's itching. However, if his biting and itching is mild, then you could try to bathe him with a skin sensitive shampoo 2-3 times weekly. You can also wipe his paws and belly with skin sensitive wipes after coming in from being outdoors to decrease the exposure form environmental allergens. Again, most of these have different response and Marcelino may not stop his biting completely. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It sounds like Milo could be very itchy, which is causing him to gnaw on his back. In order to keep him from going at himself, the cause of the itchiness needs to be diagnosed. It could be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If he isn't up to date on his flea treatment, I can give you one for him. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. If he is up to date on his flea treatment, I recommend taking him into the vet for an exam today or tomorrow. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the itching is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment. Keep the cone on him until you can get him in to see the vet. You can also try an oatmeal bath to see if that temporarily relieves his discomfort. Good luck, I hope this helps!
