Why is my dog biting her paw? She has a red pimple between her toes.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 12 lbs

My dog has been biting her paws for a few days now and I just noticed a red welt in between the toes on one of her back paws. Any idea what this is or what I can do to help her? Please let me know. Thank you.. she won't let me take pictures, but it just looks like a big red pimple in between her toes

This could be a few different things. It could be an infected cyst, it could be an infection from her licking or it could be a foreign body. I recommend placing an Elizabethan collar on her and taking her to your veterinarian. You can wait until tomorrow for the vet as long as the ecollar is on her today due to the holiday.
