My dog was bitten and has swelling, hives, vomiting, and a fever. What bit her?

That snout does look swollen. It is best to take her to your vet ASAP as you are doing as swelling of the face, neck, or head can quickly get serious. Your vet can give her a shot to help reduce the swelling quickly while they help find the cause of it. Bee stings and other insect bites can definitely cause swelling that quickly, especially if Candy ate a bee or wasp!

I am sorry to hear Madison is not feeling well. Insect stings can cause anaphylaxis just like in people. It is a good sign the facial swelling is going down and you can administer an over the counter antihistamine. However, if the vomiting does not stop I would recommend taking her to a vet for medications to stop the vomiting. I would be concerned that she might become dehydrated. Also, you can feed a bland diet to help her rest her stomach.

Swelling of the face and mouth/facial swelling are often initial symptoms of an anaphylactic/allergic reaction. These reactions can occur in dogs after vaccines, after exposure to a food or substance they are allergic to, or after a bite from an insect. As it is impossible to predict whether an anaphylactic reaction will remain localized or progress to trouble breathing, which can be life threatening, it is safest to contact a 24 hour vet for Bella at this time to have her seen. The ER may recommend a treatment plan including anti-histamines, corticosteroids +/- epinephrine and montitoring until the selling has gone down. They will also likely recommend an at home dose for Benadryl after establishing a valid patient/client relationship if this should occur again as it is uncertain at this point what Bella is allergic to. This could be due to an infection or an allergic reaction for example. I would highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It sounds like he needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. The swelling still being there after 2-3 days along with changes in breathing now can be signs of an reaction. The dark discoloration changes can indicate a change in blood supply to certain areas which is possible with snake or spider bites. A vet can see what medications will be best to help!

If Lila is having an allergic reaction to a bug or bee sting, the swelling will go away on its own within a few hours. It is an emergency if her throat is swollen and she has trouble breathing. If she seems really miserable, you can take her to an emergency vet for Benadryl and steroid injections which take the swelling down pretty quickly.

I'm sorry Sally is not feeling well! The large blister definitely looks like it can be caused by an inset bite and is painful, but it is also concerning that she is lethargic. I recommend having her looked at by a vet as soon as possible, in case there is systemic toxicity from the bite.
