How many dog biscuits can my dog safely have daily without overfeeding?

No more than 10% of the dog's total daily calories should come from treats. Those two biscuits equal around 7% perfect of her daily calories, which is perfect! It's fine that 15% of her diet is the supplements, treats, and chews, keep up the good work!

Think of it this way - treats are like cookies - they taste good and may have some nutritional value, but overall are empty calories. Dog treats are similar. You can use smaller treats, or training treats to be able to give her a treat more frequently, but no more than 10% (or less) of her diet needs to be treats. It's fine to use this as an occasional treat for Biscuit, but treats should only be given once or twice a week at most. I would let her eat at most half of it (less if it's quite big), and keep an eye on her while she is eating it to prevent her from eating it all at once or possibly choking on a large piece. Milkbones, in moderation are fine to give your dog. They are typically pretty low in calories so they are a better treat than other chewy/jerky like treats. Just remember less than 10% of your dog’s diet should come from treats. The other 90% should come from a well balanced dog food.

This depends on how many calories each treat is. What I usually recommend is seeing how many calories Nero should be getting with the dog food and then subtracting the amount of calories you are giving in treats from the main diet to ensure you are not feeding excessive calories. I probably would not feed more than 3-5 treats per day if you are feeding them in addition to the diet. You can also use the diet as treats and set some aside as training treats to ensure you are not overfeeding. I hope this helps! Yes, adult dogs can have a puppy biscuits in moderation. Biscuits for puppies will be higher calories and higher protein which could add unwanted weight to an adult dog. Moderation is key. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I actually think that is way too many treats. Treats should be used as reward or training. Those treats have a lot of calories in them and with 3 small dogs that’s an excess of calories. I would relate that to a human eating a doughnut. Three humans should not eat 40 doughnuts daily. I suspect your dogs are only picking at their dry food because they are eating mainly treats as their diet. Treats also do not have the right vitamins and minerals to promote proper bodily functions. I would recommend 1 snack per dog per day. If you would like for them to find food while you are at work, I would use their regular dog kibble. I hope this helps. Kisses to your pups!
