How to measure Benadryl for my dog? What's 1mg/lb in pills or liquid?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 10 months and 12 days old | 66 lbs

Hi a vet on here told me that you can give benadryl to your dog and to give him 1mg per 1lb of body weight so for my dog that would be 58lbs but im not sure how much grams or teaspoons that would be?

Hello, do not worry about grams. Benadryl usually comes as a 25 mg or a 50 mg tablet. The liquid Benadryl is usually 12.5 mg per teaspoon. If you use any of these, make sure they do not have pseudoephedrine as one of the ingredients. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
