Why does my dog bark at the door but not always pee outside?

Has he always done this, or is it a new behavior? Had he been sleeping through the night at any time? The fact that he is continuing to bark, even after he's been out, tells me one of two things: either there's a sound (that you may not even be able to hear) that is disturbing or exciting him, or he has you trained to get up when he barks. To a dog who is seeking attention, any attention, even negative (such as shouting at him) is satisfying. If you are sure his bathroom needs have been met, try ignoring Wish. Do not respond in any way to his barking. Understand that, since you have reacted before, he will probably up the ante and bark more, or louder, to get the response he is used to. Don't give in!!! That will just make it harder to correct. After a few days to a week, when his behavior is not getting the desired result, he will stop. However, this could be pain or discomfort while urinating/defecating. If this continues, it would be best to have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. That is very impressive for a puppy Bailey's age! Training her to bark may be difficult. Many people will hang a bell (bells) from the door knob and teach the pet to ring the bell. Basically, gently touch it to her muzzle to make it jingle and then open up the door. Most dogs pick up on this quickly. Please do not ever, ever rub your dog's nose in his pee or poop. He has no idea what you're doing and why. Also, he does not "throw a temper tantrum." Kids do that; dogs don't. Put him on a leash and take him outside to his designated spot. Do not walk around. Just stand there and repeat "go outside" or a similar phrase. As soon as he starts to go, repeat "go outside" and praise "good dog!" as he goes. When he is finished, or if it appears that he is not going to go, bring him inside but do not remove the leash, even if he has done his business. Attach it to your belt loop and keep him with you. Don’t let him out of your sight! When you see him start to circle or sniff, take him right outdoors again and repeat the process. If he does mess in the house, do not scold him unless you actually catch him in the act. In that case, say "NO!" and take him right outside. Tell him to "go outside" and praise as he finishes. If he does do his business in the house and no one is right there to correct him, he will have no reason to believe that he is doing something wrong. Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach to address your concern. Bo is still quite young and him urinating inside is something that he should eventually grow out with training. Positive reinforcement with treats whenever he urinates outside and defecates outside will help reinforce him going outside. I've had great success with recommending Fresh Patch. This is a patch of grass in a cardboard box with absorbent material underneath the grass and you place this in the house. Bo will use this real grass to go to the bathroom short term. I would recommend starting by placing the grass in the area where he has been urinating and then gradually moving the patch of grass closer and closer to the door to the outside until eventually the grass patch is outside of the house and he is using it there. It's completely normal for Ziggy to still be having accidents in the house at this age - most puppies are not reliably housetrained until 8-12 months of age. For now, since he is still having accidents, I would recommend taking him out very frequently (every 20-30 minutes, unless he is sleeping) - praise and reward him with a treat as soon as he pees or poops outside. Inside, he needs to be supervised at all times to prevent accidents. When you aren't able to watch him, he should be in a crate or a puppy-proofed room where accidents will be easy to clean up. He will start letting you know when he needs to go out when he gets a little older - first, he needs to have a strong habit of going potty outside, which it sounds like isn't really established yet. For now, you need to be taking him out frequently even if he doesn't bark or give any other kind of signal - this will come with time.

The best way to do this is by increasing the frequency of the walks and when Bogo finally goes outside, you should praise her and give her a treat so that she associates doing it outside with something positive.
