Why is my dog suddenly getting bald spots and red, irritated skin?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 25 lbs

Im concern about my dog. For the past 2 months, my dog has began to get these bald spots through out her body. And some spots seem to be red. What causes something like this?

Those spots on Bailey could be several things including allergies to fleas, allergies to something in the environment, food allergy or endocrine disease. Skin mites and ringworm (which humans can get) will also look like this. Each one of these problems is detected and addressed differently and I recommend to discuss with your veterinarian which one to start hunting down first. The veterinarian can preform a few simple diagnostics to start figuring out the problem. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
