MY dog has progressing bald spots that was once accompanied by rashes on her underside and ears. She no longer has the flare up but the spots seem to be progressing. Ive changed foods but it is not going away. Im wondering if it could be mange or allergies. what can I do? I have an appointment with the vet a week from now.

It does sound like it could be mange. He could also have a skin infection causing the sores. You can give a medicated bath but if it's mange your veterinarian can do a skin scraping to confirm the type of mange or see if it's a bacterial or fungal infection. They will then prescribe the correct medication for Buddy's skin problems. There is not an effective over the counter treatment in my opinion. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Buddy.
