Is my dog's back tooth broken? She's eating and seems fine.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 11.8 lbs

I was checking my dogs back teeth as I have been brushing them more frequently to help reduce tartar build up,because her previous owners must have never done so anyways today I thought I noticed a broken piece in her back tooth I'm not sure if it's just my over worrying but shes eating well, drink well and I touch it and she doesn't seem in any pain but again I'm no doctor. She is peeing and pooping fine too. I'm just curious as if I'm the only one seeing it

That may be a fracture tooth or an enamel defect. A close physical exam would likely be needed for confirmation of either. There doesn't appear to be any pulp exposure which is good.
Monitor for decreased appetite, drooling or difficulty chewing on that side of the mouth. If you see any of these symptoms, have Harley examined by your veterinarian.
