Why does my dog attack other animals when I give them attention?

It could be a combination of being fearful/anxious and a bit possessive/protective. Try not to overwhelm her with too many people at once. Gradually acclimate her to one person at a time by exposing her for ever increasing periods of time. Correct any negative response immediately and praise good behavior consistently. Add in a new person as she accepts the previous one. Be patient. This will take time. A pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety she may have.

Have her spayed. This will decrease hormones which can drive certain behaviors. Slowly acclimate Panda to one dog, then another and another. Do this on "neutral" ground and on leash. Correct any aggressive behaviors immediately. Use praise and small rewards as she progresses. The use of a pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar, may also help to ease her anxiety/aggression.

It sounds like your pup may be suffering from some separation anxiety, perhaps brought on initially by the trauma of the attack. It sounds like she is having some anxiety and/or dominance issues with Bella. Try to take note if she is always doing this or if there is a specific cause or causes like food nesrby, treats, bones, you nearby (they can be protective over their "humans"), etc. If so, try to find a way to keep them separate when one of those things are involved. I would start with trying a calming collar on her like adaptil. If this doesn't work, talk to your vet about a low dose of an anti-anxiety medicine like fluoxetine. Also make sure guera is getting plenty of alone time with you as they can get jealous and protective over you. I hope this helps!

It sounds like Harper is potentially fearful of other dogs on walks and because she cannot react to them she acts aggressively towards her housemate instead. You may need to separate the dogs on walks for awhile to make sure your other dog stays safe. Behavior training can help with leash aggression: you would work on keeping Harper focused on you by offering small treats whenever another dog passes. I would recommend having a behaviorist help you - ask your veterinarian for recommendations. You should also watch Harper closely for other signs of aggression - fear based aggression can be progressive and dogs that previously were not aggressive with housemates can become aggressive in these situations.
