My dog ate a sock, vomited, and now has a cough. What's wrong?

Regardless of eating the sock or not, he is still vomiting, so I would recommend taking him to a vet right away. He is young and a lot of vomiting can cause dehydration that puppies cannot recover from on their own. The vet may want to check for intestinal parasites and parvo virus (common causes of vomiting in puppies) and may also take an x-ray to look for a foreign object in the intestinal tract. If no cause for vomiting is found, the doctor can treat the vomiting and replace the fluids Shiro has lost so he doesn't get sicker. This could be an infection such as kennel cough or pneumonia. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He could have gastritis from the sock irritating the stomach, But I worry that he may have something else in his stomach or intestinal tract that is causing the vomiting. If he vomits tomorrow morning then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. They will likely recommend an X-ray to look for an object/ obstruction. Cough can be caused by an infection, heart problem or lung condition, it is important to first know the cause before treating it as treatment is different from condition to another. The most common disease causing cough is a viral infection called Kennel cough, this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.

However, other conditions unrelated to possible aspiration such as heart disease, infectious pneumonia, or heart worm infection can cause coughing as well and may just be a coincidence. If you are concerned about Chester’s cough, I recommend having him seen by his vet to rule out the conditions above. Coughing can be caused by many different conditions including heart disease, collapsing trachea, infectious tracheitis (kennel cough) and pneumonia (fluid in the lungs). I would be concerned about a bulldog coughing after known vomiting, as they are at a higher risk of aspirating (fluid from the stomach going down the trachea and into the lungs instead of coming out the mouth or back into the stomach). I would recommend having Valentino rechecked, and discuss x-rays with your vet to see if there are signs of aspiration pneumonia. However, if Valentino is only coughing a tiny amount, and is otherwise normal, eating/drinking, playing, running around normally, then he likely doesn't need antibiotics as some aspiration pneumonias are sterile (no bacteria present). If the coughing is continuous, or any continued vomiting, or if Valentino is lethargic, weak, not eating, and not acting himself, or has any signs of trouble breathing, then get him to a vet immediately. I am sorry that Dimitri is having this cough. It looks like according to the x-ray report he was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. This is where the bronchi in the lungs are inflamed. There are medications Dimitri can go on long term to help with the cough and keep him comfortable. i am not sure what is available in the phillippines though, sorry. I would recommend when he has a coughing fit to keep him relaxed and as calm as possible. You can try putting him in the bathroom with you while you shower. sometimes the steam will help settle the lungs. If he is over weight , weight loss can help a lot with chronic cough. I would recommend consulting a vet or maybe getting a second option on his lungs and cough if you do not think he is feeling better. As far as him eating things this is most like a behavioral issue. I have a hard time linking it to the bronchitis. I would just to keep him away from things of this nature. He might vomit after a coughing attack due to the force of the cough.
