My dog ate a 1-inch rubber ball. Will it cause an obstruction?

Oh dear! Since I see that Bruno is a very small dog, I would be concerned that the rubber may become stuck in his stomach or intestines and cause an obstruction. If this just happened, it would be best to take Bruno to the vet right away so that they can induce vomiting - if he throws up the rubber, you shouldn't need to worry. If this isn't possible, then you will need to monitor him closely for the next few days. He may vomit up the rubber on his own, or it may pass through in his stool without any problems. Signs of an obstruction would include repeated episodes of vomiting, not wanting to eat, acting lethargic, and not having bowel movements. If you see any of these symptoms, you will need to take him to the vet right away, as he may need emergency surgery to remove the blockage.

The only thing you should do right now is to monitor her for any signs of an obstruction which includes: excessive vomiting (especially water), decreased appetite, lethargy and little to no stool production. This sounds like something that should pass through with no problems, but just keep an eye on here tonight and definitely get her seen by a vet tomorrow if she develops any concerning symptoms. You can also try feeding her a piece of bread 1-2 times a day to help bind up the rubber and help facilitate its passage through her GI tract. Hello, thank you for your question about Shadow. It is difficult to know for sure whether this will lead to a problem or not. Since Shadow is a good sized dog if the ball was small it is possible that it will pass through her GI tract without causing any problems. However, there is always the chance that foreign material can cause an obstruction in the GI tract; this would require surgery to remove the ball. I would recommend continuing to monitor Shadow for development of any signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, inappetance, or lethargy. If at any point she shows these symptoms I would recommend contacting your veterinarian. In the meantime to try and help the ball pass through her GI tract I would recommend offering her canned food to help the material pass. Alternatively you could offer her bread or canned pumpkin with her meals. Hope this helps, good luck!

You can continue to watch her for any evidence of an obstruction which may be observed with symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, inappetence and/or lethargy. If these are observed, have Rudi evaluated by a veterianrian for further assessment and treatment as these can be signs of an obstruction which may need therapy. Oh no, that was naughty of Copper! This rubber should pass without problem, but I would keep an eye on him to be safe. There is a potential it could cause a blockage, and signs of that include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, and constipation. If you see any of those signs, take Copper into a vet immediately.

The concern that I would have about this wax seal is that it could caused an intestinal blockage. Given that Marley ate it 12 hours ago, there's nothing you can do but monitor her. It can take up to 72 hours for it to pass. Should she start vomiting, having diarrhea, becomes lethargic and anorexic, or becomes constipated, she will need to see a vet immediately because those are signs of obstruction. If she does become obstructed, she will need surgery to remove the seal.

My concern is that Axel has ingested a foreign object ( ball ) that could be potentially causing an obstruction. I hope this is not the case, he could have just some gastritis from the inflammation caused by the ball pieces. However, the presence of a potential foreign object in his tummy needs to be ruled out via a check up and x rays or other imaging, as it can be life threatening. Furthermore the vomiting will persist until the primary cause is addressed. While you search for a vet that can see Axel , offer him small amounts of water frequently , try not to let him drink a lot of water in one go as this will increase the chances of him being sick.
