My 80lb dog ate a quarter red onion from the trash. Should I worry?

My 80 lb cane corso and a quarter of a red onion that was in the trash what should i do ?

You are correct in that onions (and garlic) are toxic to dogs. The good news for Glock is that the degree of toxicity is related to his weight and the amount of onion he consumed. Average onions weigh anywhere between 70-150 grams and can pose toxicity concerns if 15 grams of onion per kilogram of body weight are consumed. Glock would need to ingest around 545 grams of onion to cause the red blood cell concerns associated with onion toxicity. Long story short, you don’t need to do anything or worry!
