Dog ate paper towel, vomited yellow bile. Seems better, but vet needed?

It could be that the paper towel caused Goldie's stomach to be upset, and that lead her to eat the grass. Then it is likely that the grass caused her to vomit. She should be able to pass a small amount of paper towel on her own, and it's unlikely that eating this has caused an obstruction already. I will give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps before having to take her into the vet. Withhold food for 8-12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. That wasn't good that Rio ate paper towel! Typically these should pass without problem, but it sounds like the paper towel is causing him some GI upset. I would continue to watch him, and I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. I'm sorry to hear B.B. is not feeling well. Grease on the paper towel can definitely upset the gastrointestinal tract causing vomiting and diarrhea. Pancreatitis is another possible consequence as well as the potential for a intestinal blockage from the paper it's self. If it has not resolved within 48 hours, I recommend to take him into the vet's office. Bloodwork and radiographs will determine if pancreatitis or a blockage is present. If he is dehydrated they will give him some fluid therapy. A bland diet of chicken and white rice or one of the prescription plan diets can also help to decrease the G.I. upset. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Hello, thank you for your question about Dexter. Bacon grease is very high in fat and can be irritating to the stomach/GI tract. IF a large amount is eaten it can also lead to pancreatitis. Paper towels are usually digestable depending on the size of the dog and the number ingested. I would recommend continuing to monitor Dexter for any progression or worsening of the vomiting. You could offer Dexter a bland diet to help ease the potential discomfort in his GI tract. If Dexter becomes inappetant, continues to vomit, or develops diarrhea I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian. As long as she is bright, has normal energy level, has good appetite and is passing normal stools, she should be fine. However, if you notice any of the worrying symptoms, you should get her checked by your local vets in the morning.
