My dog ate nail polish or a sock. Is it safe for him to pass it?

Yes, I would expect that if he had swallowed this bottle of nail polish, you would have seen some signs by now such as lethargy and a loss of appetite. Given that he's normal, I would not worry. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! He may be able to pass it but in reality, it is possible that it may cause a gastrointestinal obstruction. I recommend you watch him closely for signs of a gastrointestinal obstruction such as vomiting, inappetence, nausea and/or abdominal pain and have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment if observed. The sock may take longer to pass than normal feces but if it isn't getting caught up anywhere in the intestines, it will likely pass. If you begin to notice any clinical signs such as vomiting, lethargy, abdominal pain, etc. then I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him and take x-rays of his abdomen to see if the sock has caused an intestinal obstruction. Hi, I think if the pieces of plastic are quite small, they are likely to pass through his tummy without causing any issues. At this point in time, you can keep an eye for any signs relating to gastro-intestinal problems. Is Cashew eating well and passing normal faeces ? Is any sickness occurring ? If you haven't noticed any abnormal signs, you just ned to keep an eye on his faeces over the next few days, and make sure he is not straining nor in any pain. This scenario can go one of three ways. You may end up finding the sock and he may not have eaten it at all. This will obviously be the best scenario. The second scenario is he either vomits it up or poops it out. This can happen. The third scenario is he becomes obstructed and needs surgery. I would highly recommend not having him play with socks anymore. Keep a close eye on him. Any vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy I would recommend going to a vet immediately. The important thing is to learn from this and puppy proof their environment at all times just like with infants who are starting to crawl and walk. I would monitor her closely. If she eats, drinks, and has bowel movements that become normal again, you probably don't have much to worry about. It is possible that he blood you noticed was intestinal worm related and that should be addressed if it wasn't already. Keep a close eye on her. If signs progress or worsen then I would have her evaluated immediately. Hopefully she vomited up the entire sock and her gut is just irritated. Good luck with Jolie.
