My dog ate a mouse from a trap. Is it safe if no poison was used?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 7 months and 23 days old | 35 lbs

My dog who is almost a year old ate a mouse out of a mouse trap. The mouse hadn’t eaten poison because we don’t keep poison in our house. What should I do?

While that sounds pretty unpleasant, it's not at all dangerous and no further action is needed (other than placing your traps in places Luna can't get to in the future - I'd be worried about her getting caught herself!). I hope the rest of your evening is more uneventful!
