My dog ate horse poop. Should I be worried about worms or diseases?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 46 lbs

Can dogs get worms or diseases from horse poop (Horses not dewormed) and if so what should I do if my dog ate horse poop ? He is on monthly heart guard.

Hello. Yes, your pet can pick up parasites from eating manure, but for the most part, parasites are host specific. Your veterinarian may see some eggs on Costa's next fecal exam, but your heartworm preventative will eliminate the parasites, so this is not anything to be concerned about.
