My pit bull ate dabs and is vomiting, disoriented. Is it an emergency?

Poor Lightening. He could have parvo, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, may have eaten something rotten or toxic, or could have a foreign body. His symptoms are a medical emergency, and cannot be treated at home. Please take him into a vet immediately.

I'm sorry to hear that Loin isn't feeling well. Vomiting and diarrhea in a young dog can be caused by a variety of conditions, but the most common include parvovirus (unlikely if he has been fully vaccinated), gastroenteritis (stomach upset) from eating different foods, table scraps or treats, intestinal parasites, or another GI virus. Since his diarrhea looks quite liquid with possible blood in it (difficult to tell from the picture), I recommend taking Loin to his vet for evaluation. The vet will be able to run a test for parvovirus, stool sample to check for parasites, and any other indicated testing to get to the bottom of this issue. If Loin is dehydrated, he may need IV fluids. Until you can get to the vet, withhold food for 12-24 hours. After that time, talk to Loin's vet about starting him on a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before gradually transitioning back to his normal dog food over another 5-7 days. I hope that Loin feels better soon!

Unfortunately there's not a lot of advice I can give you other than to take Savage in to see her vet ASAP. After 4 days of being abnormal, I don't think this is something that is just going to pass, and if she is in fact having seizures you are risking her life by not seeking care. You've described several very concerning signs - breathing difficulties, seizures, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting- and she needs to be seen and have some diagnostics - blood work, possibly x-rays, and a good physical exam - to try to figure out what is going on and how to help her.

It can be very dangerous given her weight and age. I suggest to bring her to your local vet for a full health check (heart rate, breathing rate, temperature need to be monitored) asap. She might need to be hospitalized and receive intravenous fluidotherapy depending on the severity of the symptoms. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. Hello, sorry to hear about Indigo. Ultimately it sounds like she could be very dehydrated and needs to see a veterinarian. She would first need to be tested for parvo, if negative other things could be considered such as low glucose, a foreign body which could be causing an obstruction, or even parasites. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Although Mya is still eating, drinking, and having normal bathroom habits, the shaking and lethargy is a concern. Shaking can sometimes be an indication of pain or discomfort in dogs or can be a symptom of certain endocrine diseases. I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. In this case, it is very hard to say for certain what is going on with Mya without examining her first. A veterinary exam would be a good place to start so she can be evaluated head to tail. Your veterinarian may recommend blood work and/or x-rays be run on Mya as well to help determine a diagnosis. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

It sounds like getting into the trash the other day and eating food from the garage she should not have eaten may be causing stomach upset and disinterest in eating her normal food. If she is lethargic and not herself, then I would take her into a veterinary hospital as soon as possible. She may have ingested something toxic in the garage like chocolate, onions, grapes, garlic or other toxin that could have made her sick. Another possibility may be eating items with lots of sugar and fat in them which can cause pancreatitis which can be very painful and could explain the lack of appetite. Another possibility is eating items like nectarine pits or other chunky solid food items may have caused an obstruction in her intestines. She is likely stretching frequently perhaps because she is in some discomfort in abdominal area and she may be trying to get some relief. My best advice to you is to take her in as soon as possible.
