My dog ate chocolate and a vape pen. Should I take him to the vet?

Although the THC content can cause some severe symptoms in dogs, it is not likely to be fatal or to cause any long lasting effect, the symptoms can last up to 48 hours though so i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get to get supportive treatment. the chocolate itself is actually more dangerous that he canabis but if the amount is not more than 15 gr then this is fine as well, it's a low amount of chocolate, nothing that would cause any serious toxic effects.

You are correct that vape pens are dangerous to dogs due to the chemicals in it such as nicotine. Nicotine is absorbed quickly and can be extremely toxic, even in small doses. The most common symptoms of poisoning in dogs are drooling, puking, diarrhea, lethargy, and seizures. If you see any of those signs in Dexter, take him into a vet immediately. Your sister should not do allow him to smell that vape pen or lick it even again, it's not safe. I hope this helps.

If you can determine the type of chocolate (white, milk, dark, etc.) and the exact amount (number of ounces or grams), then you can call your local 24 hour clinic and ask if that amount is toxic or not. If it is, then you will need to get Vito to throw up, and then depending on what is thrown up and how much chocolate was ingested, IV fluids, and medications, might be required. Chocolate toxicity causes vomiting, diarrhea, tachycardia (high heart rate), arrythmias (Abnormal heart beat rhythm), tremors, seizures and death, often in that order, depending on how much was eaten.
