No, I would not give him your medication, as it is not prescribed for him and it's never safe to give a dog unprescribed human medication. I would refill it first thing Monday, and until then, you can give him glucosamine or chondroitin sulfate supplements. They provide the necessary nutrients for cartilage repair and function. No this is not safe to do at all. The medication isn't prescribed for Buddy and it may not be the correct dose. Plus aspirin is never safe to give dogs, it causes GI bleeding and ulcers. I would get him into his vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

Poor Wookie. It is never a good idea to start a medication without having checked the patient before. All the medication have side effects and have to be carefully prescribed and given only for the appropriate disease. There are different medication against pain and Tramadol is one of those but recent studies suggest might not be as effective as we thought, there are other more effective medication. I recommend to have Wookie checked by your veterinarian to asses the level of pain and prescribed the correct medication taking in account all Wookie history and concurrent heath problems, if present. Hello. We generally do not recommend aspirin because of the same problems seen in people. It can cause severe gastric upset & possibly ulcerations, & aspirin decreases platelet activity that can lead to prolonged & abnormal bleeding. Only use aspirin on the advice of your veterinarian, or consider one of the newer & safer anti-inflammatories available for dogs. Definitely continue your joint supplements, though. Unfortunately there are no over the counter pain medications that I would recommend - while aspirin can be given to dogs it has a high risk for causing stomach ulcers with even a couple of doses and it will limit what your vet might be able to prescribe.
