My dog has an armpit rash. Should I take him to the vet again?

Hi, it seems like the rash is quite severe and definitely will cause pain. In general, rashes in this area are indicative of underlying allergies and most likely will reoccur. My point of view is to have June seen by a vet so she can receive prompt treatment that will relief pain and inflammation and to make a long term plan. The vet will also go through options that might be used at home once the inflammation is under control. Hope this helps !

I would have Frankie seen by a vet for this rash. If Bendaryl isn't helping it, he likely needs stronger drugs to treat it, which the vet can prescribe. I would have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning.

Allergies, bacterial, fungal, or mite infections can all be possible causes. You can try the medicated shampoo again to see if it helps this time around. If it doesn't help much or if it worsens, I would recommend Oscar see his veterinarian for an exam and further evaluation. He may need antibiotics or other medications as needed.

It looks like your dog has a skin infection, most likely caused by allergies or fleas. The allergies can be from a protein in her food or to something in the environment, like grasses, pollens, dust, etc. The allergies cause a breakdown in the skin barrier and make the dog very itchy. The excessive itching and licking cause the skin infection. I would recommend taking Rex in to see the vet so he can be started on some antibiotics to help clear up the skin and get on a good flea control. You may also ask about a medicated shampoo, these can help clear up the skin more quickly. I would also recommend discussing with your vet some options for medication to help control the allergy symptoms like Atopica, Apoquel, or Cytopoint. Good luck!

This may be local irritation or infection. If Kiely is licking at it, place an e-collar (cone) on her. Keep the area clean and dry. This may be enough to allow for healing. If the rash worsens or spreads though, she will need to be examined by your veterinarian. Antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and/or antihistamines may be indicated depending on the diagnosis.

Poor Riddick! Unfortunately, this looks like it is infected. You can try some benadryl and neosporin twice a day. See link below for benadryl dosing. I would not let him lick it. You can put a cone collar on him to prevent this. If he licks it, it will never heal. If you aren't seeing much improvement, I would have your vet take a look at him. Poor Teddy! It sounds like he is suffering from some severe allergies that is causing this persisting rash. I would take him into the vet for an exam. It sounds like he could use a strong medication to stop the rash, such as a steroid. I would take Teddy into the vet today or tomorrow during normal business hours.
