Should my active 95lb Lab with ankle issues eat Hills Science Diet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 95 lbs

Hi. We have a 3 year old American yellow Labrador. He is 95lbs, quite muscular and very active!! He has had trouble with his front ankle since a puppy. From time to time when playing hard. Other then that he is very healthy. We are looking to switch his food. His current one just doesn't seem up to snuff. Would you say Hils Science Diet, Large Breed is a good choice? Thank you

I am sorry to hear about Ralphie's issue with his leg! If he has never had an x-ray I would consider having your vet take one to see if there is anything that could be done.
I do believe Hills Science Diet Large Breed is a great dog food. I usually recommend this or Purina Pro Plan large breed food for a large breed dog.
