When is it safe to leave my dog alone after spay and mass removal?

Hello! Fourteen days is the amount of time needed to have a spay incision heal. You can have her checked out by a vet after the 14 days to make sure it's fully healed before removing the onesies. I hope this helps!

Your vet should go over instructions for her aftercare based on the surgery. In general we recommend restricting activity untli the sutures are removed, which is normally 7 to 10 days. Unless she has had an upset stomach we can usually give them their normal food, just in small amounts initially to be sure the anesthetic didn't make them nauseous and they aren't going to vomit. As far as how long the surgery will take, that will depend on your vet's office and where the bump being removed is located. You should contact your vet for information on when she will be ready for pick-up from surgery, and at discharge/when she goes home,they should provide you with their specific instructions for aftercare. Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The incision looks like it is healing quite well. It is a little pink, but I see no swelling or discharge. You can remove her cone tomorrow, but continue to look at Merci's belly daily for at least another week. Take care.

Recovery will take approximately two weeks in most dogs. During this time, it is recommended to prevent or avoid excessive running, jumping or rough play. An e-collar (cone) is typically work until sutures (stitches) are removed 10-14 days after surgery. It should be left on at all times to prevent licking or chewing at the spay site. There is no reason Daisy cannot be left alone as long as she has someone to let her out to use the bathroom.

Hello. Your veterinarian has taken an abundance of precautions for your pet. For most routine surgeries, even in an older girl like yours, restricting activity for 7-10 days is fine. This usually means curtailing running up & down stairs, jumping on furniture & leaving a pet unattended outdoors for hours on end. If Precious is primarily a house dog, then just try & slow her down a bit & either walk her on a leash outdoors or supervise her activity. Lilly's incision looks like it has healed well. From the picture, it appears she had internal sutures to close the incision. To be safe, I'd wait until 14 days have passed since she was spayed, and then take off the Ecollar. I hope this helps!

Within the week she will probably be feeling great and ready to walk and play normally, however, keep it on the easy side until the vet gives the ok. Do NOT allow: running, jumping, chasing anything, wrestling with playmates, swimming, etc. until you vet gives the Ok or until 14 days after the spay. Best wishes to you and Dakota!
