Can I refill my dog's allergy medicine without another vet visit?

Unfortunately in order to prescribe medication we are legally required to have examined the animal to establish a “vet-client-patient relationship” so we cannot call in prescriptions with online consults. You will need to touch base with your regular vet to get Kylo’s medication.

We can not prescribe drugs or tell you how to use a drug because we legally are not allowed to. I am sorry. I recommend calling your Vet and asking them since they have a legal relationship with you. Unfortunately we cannot give a prescription for these medications, it's illegal for us to do so without seeing him in person. You will need a prescription to get these medications, and in order to get that, you will have to take him into the vet. I'd make an appointment for him to be seen in the next couple of days. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! In the US we do not charge to write prescriptions (as far as I know). The laws in the UK must be different. Robenacoxib are prescription so there is no way to get the drug with out your Vet approving the prescription, My suggestion is to ask for a larger supply, 3 months or more with refills. That way you do not have to pay the prescription fee that often. I hope this helps and have a great day!

Steroids are the most commonly used medications for severe skin allergies so I assume your dog gets steroids injection. This medication is provided only by the vets, so you would need to see your local veterinarian if Princess has another skin problems.

It sounds like you may need a prescription strength medicine to help your dog become more comfortable. Your vet will need to examine your dog to ensure they are otherwise healthy (and to start a valid client/ patient/ vet relationship to legally dispense medicine) and then will decide which medicine would work best. There are newer products such as Apoquel and Cytopoint which may be appropriate. Your vet may also suggest an eye ointment to apply. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would recommend taking Shorty to the vet again for a follow up exam. Whatever was causing the allergic reaction is still in his body. He may need longer treatment with steroids. You can continue to give the Benadryl every 8 hours but if there is no change, I would see a vet. Good luck and kisses to Shorty!
