Is my 15-month dog too old for puppy food? What about bad breath?

Great question! Because Ohu is a small breed dog, I would recommend feeding him the Hill's Small Paws adult food. It's an excellent food for small breed dogs like Ohu. I do recommend slowly transitioning from his puppy food to his new adult food to avoid stomach upset. To do this, feed him 75% old food, 25% new food for three to four days, then give him 50% old, 50% new. Again feed this mixture for three to four days, then feed him 25% old food, 75% new food. After feeding him this mixture for another three to four days, give him 100% of the new food. If he does have any stomach upset during this time, such as diarrhea, increase the amount of old food and decrease the amount of new food until the diarrhea is resolved, then continue to increase the amount of new food. I would guess that this is potentially food related, and if it is transient and he is doing well on his food otherwise there may not be anything to be worried about. If it bothers you, you could try changing his diet to another flavor or another brand altogether (I recommend sticking to foods by Purina, Hill's, Royal Canin, Iams or Eukanuba). You could also consider trying a probiotic supplement. Although Guido is young he could still also have a tooth problem and if the odor seems to be around all the time you may want to have your vet examine his mouth.

Have her seen by your veterinarian. The odor may be due to periodontal disease that needs to be addressed she may need her teeth cleaned and/or may lose teeth. Severe periodontal disease can be painful which could affect the appetite. Discontinue feeding milk as it can lead to an upset stomach. You can feed her Pedigree if that is all she will eat. Try soaking it with warm water to stimulate the appetite. The "best" food in the world is useless if a pet won't eat it.

I would not recommend to change her food. Instead I would watch her closely for any signs of illness. Sometimes the slower eating is the result of an oncoming illness. Rarely is it a puppy being picky (although this can happen). Instead add a little warm water or a table spoon of boiled white rice. Be careful about changing around food too much. That behavior can create a very picky eater. If you do decide to change her food, Eukanuba and Hill Science Diet are both great foods. I hope this helps Maia!

Congratulations on your new dog! I would not stress over some burping in the morning as long as Coco is otherwise normal (normal bowel movements, normal appetite, no vomiting, normal weight gain). The breath odor could be from losing teeth if she still has baby teeth, most adult teeth will have come in by 6 months of age. If you feel there is a bad odor to her breath I would have her vet examine her to check for dental or GI disease. Greenies should be fine but should be given while supervised to ensure she doesn't ingest the entire greenie without chewing it up first as this can cause an intestinal blockage. The same goes for bully sticks and these shouldn't be given in large quantities. Also observe her for stomach upset after these because for some dogs they might have sensitive stomachs and they can cause GI upset.

At 13 I would recommend feeding a diet formulated specifically for senior dogs such as vet essentials mature or royal canin mature. Grooming should be considered if the coat is matted or greasy, if not then regular brushing at home may be sufficient. I would be concerned about her breath however as this may indicate dental or even kidney disease and I would recommend a full physical and oral exam and possibly a blood panel to assess any underlying medical conditions

It's likely to be something in the new food that Empire is not tolerating well, it could also be the sudden change, you can try going back to the puppy food and gradually switching him to the new food over 10 days, start with 90% puppy and 10% adult food, increase the adult food ratio by 10% every day. if it doesn't solve the problem you may need to switch to a different brand of food.
