There are two ways to express anal glands, internal and external . Groomers generally express the glands externally. The internal expression is generally better and more complete. From now on, have Mario’s anal glands expressed internally every three months. If a groomer is not able to provide this type of expression, he will need to see the veterinarian for this. You can also be taught how to do this type of expression at home. There is a product called Glandex which made aide in normal anal gland expression but it is possible he may still need them expressed. I hope this helps.

Unless there is a special circumstance involving Tia's glands, such as the area is just not healing, additional flushing & treatment is usually not necessary. It really depends on the dog. Some dogs never need their glands expressed while others need it done once a month. Just monitor for signs like scooting her butt on the floor, licking, and an odor and then have them checked at that time.

There's no need to express them unless they become impacted. Signs of impacted anal sacs include licking the anus, scooting on the floor, and constipation. If you see any of those signs in Daisy May, then I would express her anal sacs. Otherwise, they don't need to be expressed, as they are typically expressed when a dog passes feces.
