Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 20 lbs

Today I found two fleas on my dog, I bathed her with flea shampoo, and brushed her with a flea brush, how will I know when she is free from all fleas ?

Hello there. Unfortunately, the adult fleas you found on Bella only make up about 5% of the fleas in her environment. The rest of the fleas are eggs, larvae, and pupae, which can remain in your carpet, floorboards, and furniture for months. The only way to truly insure Bella is flea free is to use a high quality flea preventative. I recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine what type of flea treatment is best for Bella (prevention comes in topical, oral, and collar varieties). Hope this helps!
