Deciding between two hypoallergenic dog foods recommended by my vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 3 years and 4 months old | 14 lbs

Hi, vet has recommended a hypoallergenic dog food. I’m in doubt between those two. Any help? Equilíbrio is a little bit more expansive, but I could afford anyway.

I am unfamiliar with those particular brands. I would trust your vet and choose whichever feels right. There is nothing wrong with less expensive diets! Especially if your vet trusts them. You could try the cheaper one for 6 weeks and then reevaluate how Cacau is doing on it. If she hasn’t had resolution in her symptoms, then you could switch to the more expensive diet.
